  • Development of new metallic materials (in-situ and ex-situ particulate composites, nanocomposites (Al- and Fe-alloys matrix, ceramic matrix, intermetallic matrix), amorphous and nanostructured coatings, Complex Metallic Alloys, High Entropy Alloys)
  • Development of new and optimization of metallic material production techniques (casting, vacuum arc melting, powder metallurgy, thermal spraying)
  • Thermal-mechanical-surface treatments of metallic materials
  • Microstructural studies of metallic materials (metallography, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy in partnership with relative laboratories)
  • Corrosion performance of alloys, composites, coatings and reinforced concrete with advanced electrochemical techniques (localised corrosion studies, weldments corrosion) and high temperature corrosion studies
  • Surface mechanical properties (sliding wear, friction, solid particle erosion, dynamic hardness, elastic modulus, plastic deformation and elastic deformation through nano-indentation)
