• Chemistry of phyllomorphous materials (in particular clays, pillared clays, organo-clays and carbon layered structures)

 
• Hybrid organic-inorganic nanocomposites, carbon nanostructures (carbon nanotubes, fullerenes), mesoporous materials, magnetic nanoparticles and biocatalysts.
 
• Synthetic procedures: intercalations reactions, sol-gel, hydrothermal synthesis, Catalytically Chemical Vapor Deposition (CCVD), solid state reactions, Langmuir-Blogett.
 
• Characterization techniques: powder XRD; FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis, EPR and Mössbauer spectroscopies, DTA/DSC/TGA, porosity measurements, SEM microscopy.
